Issue:

When you start a network version of an Autodesk software product, the following error message is displayed:

Error [1.5.-12]

Resolution:

Due to port filtering done at the client workstation or at the license server, this error may be generated when starting an Autodesk product the uses FLEXlm® license management technology. The Autodesk® License Manager (AdLM) needs unrestricted access to TCP/IP port 2080 and ports 27000 - 27010.

Applications services known to cause this failure

- Microsoft® ISA Server (Internet Security and Acceleration server)
- WinGate Firewall from Deerfield software
- Symantec® Enterprise VPN Client
- Freedom Zero Knowledge
- Any program that filters or uses one of the following specific ports:
TCP/IP or UDP ports 27000 - 27010
TCP/IP or UDP port 2080

To resolve this issue, the software that is causing the conflict may need to be uninstalled or reconfigured. If this problem is occurring at the license server, another option is to move the AdLM to a server computer that does not have the conflicting software installed.

Some implementations of the Microsoft® Firewall Client are configured to automatically detect the ISA server. When this option is ON, the Autodesk software (for example, AutoCAD® 2002) cannot find the license server.

Notes:

When the Firewall client is loaded on a Windows® 2000 computer, this option is ON by default and may need to be disabled.
